I have one card slot for RAW (sd card), the other for JPEG. Whenever I employ the Canon's EOS program to download the images it will only download the images that is recorded as playback on the camera. Then I have to remove that card and redo for the other JPEG (CF card). Is there a way to simultaneously copy both at the same time from the Canon program? Doing it one at a time is painful.

never mind, I found the answer in the manual:

"for RAW + JPEG images you can specify which image to transfer. On the next page in step 2, select 2, select [RAW + JPEG transfer], and select the image to be transfered: [JPEG only], [RAW only] or [RAW + JPEG]"

It's a whole lot easier to remove the cards from the camera and put them into their respective slots in the computer, then start 2 file copies using Windows. Works like a champ for me!

Does not work for me, the computer that I assembled does not have a CF or SD reader card. I just chose in the camera which slot to "playback" (card 1) and that slot is the one that will be transfered, then I chose the other slot (card 2). Thanks though....

Not trying to start another huge debate about card readers vs. no reader, but it's not. When the utility is set up correctly, it is a simple click to download both jpg and RAW images.

Yes, you are right. I never bothered to look under the preferences tab of the EOS Utility. It says under the download image tab an option to download all images. I had it under images not yet downloaded assuming it would download both images from both cards/ Well I hope after I return from Buffalo, New York mid September, it will download all JPEG and RAW files form both slot simultaneously. Good Find Gregg.Siam!!! Ta.

Question, why would you want jpg if you're shooting RAW? Just curious as I use RAW and export to jpg for web/print.

Mind you that the CF-slot is the faster one so you might considder switching.
For myself I too use RAW+JPG (Windows-browser-friendly) but let the cards follow each other when full.
To transfer the images I use an external reader (never done other way).
Dispite my setup is to start with the CF-card it tend to prefer the SD-slot, a result of getting the cards out the body. Very strange.
Good luck
Greetings from Ghent
Alain,

I am an organiser for a world wide social group company named www.meetup.com (external link). I am a photographer for a local group here in Richmond, Virginia. When I organise a meetup, I take pictures of that event and upload them almost immediately to the meetup.com site for my group. (via a OTG cable to my Nexus 10 which downloads JPEGs only then the Socialiser APP for meetup where I can upload directly to my meetup group's server). RAW files are uncompressed and too large (the maximum file per is 9.8 Mb per meetup.com's policy for uploading pictures to their site). Hence why I photograph one slot RAW ( SD card my negative) and the other slot (CF card JPEG). The JPEG is automatically processed for me. I know with the 5D Mark III one can process RAW files in camera however, I chose not to.

Greetings from Ghent
Alain,

When I purchased the 30D in 2007, I purchased CF cards with it at a very low storage capacity of 256 Mb to 4 GB. When I purchased the 5D Mark III earlier this year from Adorama, it contained a 56 GB SD card. Since RAW files are so much larger than JPEG files and that my CF cards are between 256 MB to 4 GB, I chose the SD card for RAW files.

Try using an eyefi card... You can then have your job files transferred wirelessly as you shoot, and you don't need to hook your nexus up. As I shoot senior pics, my client can see the pics almost immediately as we walk to the next location. You may even be able to set up the eye fi app to upload the files for you if you are wirelessly tethered.

You will have to swap your card usage around though, raw to cf, jpg to SD.
