I have tried going lower with karts, but it seldom works for me. Since karts basically have no suspension, any little imperfection in the road surface causes them to bounce. That vertical movement is not something that the photographer can easily correct for and this results in a blurred photo even if your panning rate exactly matches the kart’s speed. Give it a try, but I wouldn’t expect many keepers.

Also, since the kart’s wheels are much smaller than a car’s, they turn faster to cover similar distance. That means you can use a higher shutter speed and still get a well blurred wheel.
