Hi,
I posted this here because i know that wedding photographers tend to have/use more than 1 camera.

I have 2 x 5D3 and i always find that the time stamp are always off a bit.
Firmwares are all up to date.

I purchased one of the 5D3 pretty much straight after it's release and the 2nd a yr later.

anyone with this same experiences?

cheers,
Scott

I've never had two cameras keep synchronised time for long. Best to do it yourself every once in a while.

We shoot with 3 cameras. So they are synch'd but its a mute point. We present images to client as

Camera 1
Camera 2
Camera 3

Formals are on one camera as well as other shots that we do individual portraits and special work on during the day. I have my camera and My wife has hers. Seems to work well for us and our clients. Also a lot easier when it comes time to get selected photos for albums and printing needs. So it doesn't really matter if the cameras are synch'd with this system.

Pre-wedding routine

1) Clean and check all lenses
2) Recharge batteries
3) Recharge LED lights
4) Format all memory cards
5) Clean camera sensors
6) Reset ISO and WB to my standard start of day settings
7) Sync camera times
8) Clear custom registered settings

I sync cameras to my Mac's time via EOSUtility while prepping for a wedding.

or you can use the Canon GP-E2 to sync the time between cameras before each wedding.

Since your time synch seems to be drifting, have you checked those little COIN batteries that maintain internal clock, config, etc.? Maybe one is starting to fail or perhaps the voltage is off a little bit. You can try buying two new ones and simultaneously popping them in to see if that fixes the problem; should cost less than $10. PC's will act like that.

Alternatively, you can take a picture of a clock on each camera and sync afterwards.

My precheck workflow goes:
Cleaning of gear
Checking of cards. Making sure photos on card are already on hard drive.
In camera format.
Time Sync via EOSUtility
Take a photo of contract on each camera.
Inventory/Pack.

Khan - that's an interesting concept, photographing the contract with each contract; a great photo ID for the Job. Thanks for sharing.:D

Mine don't get synced together as such, just the correct time set on each camera from the computer clock before each wedding..:D

both mine do stay pretty close, but the clocks get automatically updated when I plug camera into PC, and make it a point to do so at least once every couple of weeks
