Hi fellow POTN members -

Does anyone else here utilize Etsy to advertise and sell your photography?

I recently started an Etsy site for my artwork and would greatly appreciate your feedback:

I'd really appreciate your honest and candid feedback, if you don't mind taking a few minutes out of your day.

Thank you again for supporting a fellow photographer :)

Best wishes,
Brandon

I can't believe not even one person was courteous enough to respond. Isn't this forum for discussing photography business? Is nobody using Etsy?

Sometimes a post will go unnoticed for a while and then answers will follow.
Bump it again tomorrow or Saturday and see what happens.

I do not use ETSY so I cannot help.

just a few of my thoughts...

I use etsy for my art photography. It goes slowly, but it is always rewarding, when somebody is interested in your work and ready to actually invest into it.

This is a duplicate post. See my reply in the other thread you posted in General Photography Talk.

I apologize for cross-posting... I only found the business thread after posting in the general photography talk forum. Below is the response I made to the thread there. Free free to merge these threads and thanks to everyone curtious enough to provide feedback :)

"Thank you all so much for the excellent feedback! I'm taking it all very seriously and will try to expand my bio. Creating a business on Etsy isn't an easy task and requires a great deal of marketing/managing your site. Yes, I've already made some good sales and my shop has only been open a week. From what I've read, it's normally a 2-3 week process before your first sales come through. In that sense, I definitely feel ahead of the game but know there is a great deal more work to be done. Thanks again for the encouragement and I'll try to update this thread with my progress in a couple of months. In the meantime, if others have feedback on my site design and images, it would be greatly appreciated. "

Amazon has just started selling fine art.

Just like anything, if you have an etsy site you better market and network it to the correct people. It won't sell itself. Why couldn't it work though if your photography is good enough, priced well and you are reaching the correct market. Good luck.

The only problem that I can see is that I have never heard of Etsy and they don't come up in a generic "fine art photography" search.

I would have doubts about the generic search traffic that would find its way to your Etsy shop so it is basically down to you to promote your shop and drive direct traffic.

I would imagine that other, more popular shop sites like Amazon would create better visitor rates.

I've had far better results with Fine Art America than Etsy.

I sell stuff on FAA fairly regularly, but Etsy hasn't generated a dime for me...

I have been on Etsy since October and I have sold four prints for $300 in revenue. I kind of have a niche though because my photos are of a local university rather than just general landscape photos.

I haven't tried Fine Art America... Can anyone else comment on it?

I've been using Etsy for a coupe of years now and don't mind it.It's a great way to generate passive income. I've found it comes in waves. I may not get any orders for a month or so then suddenly get 2 or 3 within short time frame. It's cheap and fairly easy to keep updated once the initial time investment has been spent. I don't make a lot but it is a way for people to buy my art and get quality art to hang on their walls that they like. Not something they bought at some large shopping store.
