I'm considering a 3 or 4 day quick trip to one of the above areas in October and was curious if anyone has a peak foliage date for the area(s) and/or any can't miss locations for landscape or nature photography. Specifically, I'm considering the Lake Bomoseen area of Vermont or the Smoke Hole region in West Virginia. My work gets very busy in mid to late fall and it's tough for me to plan a trip or to get away so I don't want to waste the few days that I take.

Thanks in advance for any advice or comments.

http://www.wvforestry.com ….cfm?menucall=fallfoliage (external link) has a map of usual color peaks and will be updated during the fall foliage season. I don't have a url for Vermont, but Google should help you find something similar for that state.

http://www.foliage-vermont.com/foliageinflash.htm (external link) may have what you desire.

Thanks. The WV map just shows fall foliage but doesn't really break it down to early, mid, peak, etc.. The Vermont map is very nice, thanks a ton for that. It looks like October 10th might be good in both areas.
