First off this is the first ETTL flash I've owned so there may be something I'm missing in the manuals of both the 1DS MIII and YN568EXII. However I am getting a shift in color when:

I shoot at 1/200sec using the flash white balance setting on the 1DS MIII. I am not having the shift when using any of the other white balance settings on the 1DS MIII. Any ideas what could be causing the issue?

I can shoot above or below 1/200sec shutter speed and not get this blue or sometimes green image when using the flash white balance setting.

Any help or ideas on why this is occuring would be appreciated.

May want to have this moved to the flash section ;)

What kind of ambient exposure does 1/200 give you? What type of lighting are in in?

Indoors or out I am getting the shift at 1/200sec. I can correct it in post easy enough but would rather have the glitch cleared up or at least an explanation as to why.

Lol, maybe.

But if I had to guess its that you're dealing with the hell known as fluorescent lighting

With fluorescent you either have to kill all ambient or have a shutter speed long enough to allow the light to go through its color wave (don't know the name of it but that's what I call it) at which point you'll also need to gel the flash to match the fluorescent color temp.

I could be way off base but the flash pros in the lighting section will know for sure

Edit: if you're getting it outdoors them my theory is wrong and I have no clue....

Prepared for the worst when I slapped my friends 580exII and then a 430exII onto my like new 1ds miii. Turns out it was the YN560exII that was the problem.

In short, I should have listened to my own advice and bought OEM in the first place.

From what I have read in the past, the 1D bodies can get color temp information from the flash, so the color balance is correct regardless of subtle color shifts as the power level drops (due to ETTL command, or manual flash power setting). Perhaps the camera is getting wrong information from the flash at full power setting, causing the camera to select a too-low WB value. Look at EXIF for the WB value embedded into the bad WB shots.
