anyone still use/like the Canon 70-200 2.8 non is?

I still have this lens and it is amazing. Love the colors and is lots of fun to use, always blown away by the pictures.

Any thoughts from the people who still use it? I am thinking about upgrading to the IS 2, but cant justify the price tag.

I normally bump up my iso as well. Try to keep my shutter speed above 1/125, any lower than that, there is lots of blur.

I like the Tamron, but how would it compare to the 70-200 mrk i IS? They are almost the same price//

Why you want to upgrade if you are happy with it plus you dont have enough free money for this upgrade?

he's in the denial stage of upgrading. by hookm or by crook he'll have the f2.8 IS II by the end of the year 'ill bet .

Well we both live in the same city so here's my take. I was in the same boat as you about a month ago. Thought about selling my non-IS for the IS version. But I thought about it really hard and decided that I won't be using the IS mechanism most of the time for what I use the lens for (high speed sports). So, instead of the IS v2, I decided to buy some PCB Einsteins.

I use to have it and thought it was a great lens. It never worked well with a 2X though.

yes i still use the ef 70-200 2.8 non is
but after using this big elephant
no more needs for the IS one
i will sell it and use only my 135L
i want my bag to be in a light weight

Ya for sure, i hate that denial stage, normally ends in me spending money later! I am going to hang on to it for a while. Sometimes i think i am trying to find reasons to sell it, but when i use it i cant justify selling it and buying the v2

That lens was one of the finest examples of it's kind just a few short years ago. People raved about it, took excellent photos with it, and generally loved it.

Then the II came out, it's better, but incrementally so, and the cost is very high. The same goes for everything in this business. The new XXD is out and it's the Shiznet!! My old XXD is junk!! the reality is your XXD or 70-200 was just fine, and raved about on it's introduction, it still is great and will continue to take fine photographs. If you're happy, get out and shoot. I do have a II, but it's not groundbreaking, it's incrementally better than my old Drainpipe, a 30 year old lens.

Snap. I did the same when I got a 5D year's back. 20mm on body 1, 135mm on body 2, strobes, monopod. I had a nifty 50 just in case but didn't use it much. I missed my 70-200 a few times but stuck with it.
