I don't think so but I am not very good at classifying birds. It is a nic photo though, excellent detail.

Where was the picture taken?
Definitely in the Sandpiper family. It could be a Short-billed Dowitcher (external link). Here's a list of Ohio birds (external link).

Here is a photo of a 'rare regular' Red Knot that was recently photographed in Duluth, MN by Peder Svingen; it looks somewhat similar......

I think you need some professional advice here; it's a great photo of what could be a rarity.

This picture was taken at Lorain, Ohio at the near mouth of the Black river and break wall of Lake Erie. It was a solitary bird but very photogenic.

Yeh, its a Red Knot. Short-billed and Long-billed Dowitchers have a longer beak than this bird (a Red Knot). Notice the round lower scapulars on the back and the median coverts with black edges compared to the winter plumage of a dowitcher. Winter plumage dowitchers have longer feathers lacking the black edging on their median coverts and lower scapulars.

Lovely shot.

Thanks, I'm loving my new lens and bird photography. I need to get a Better Beamer for my flash.

i think you should use quotation marks and perhaps give credit to the information you used in the original post. those are not your words, and it should be indicated.

Thanks for pointing that out. I'll fix it.
