In my quest to try and obtain better and more realistic shots, I have bought a canoe so that I could get out on the water on the Salt Marsh and see if I could get a little closer to the various birds. Of course the prime consideration was to ensure that I wasn't going to dump 3K work of equipment in the drink. You Tube to the rescue and a day later I had a removable stabilizer system. Today was the first run out on the water with the system, winds were about 30km/h so it was difficult to paddle with any accuracy but the system worked very well and was extremely stable.

I managed to get a couple of pictures of some cormorants but that was all for today as it was mostly a trial to see how the canoe and stabilizer worked.

Any and all comments welcome.

Shot from inside the canoe.

Thanks for the comments.

It was really a no-brainer for the pelican case. Rated for 30 min immersion with multiple K$ of equipment inside a $200.00 box, plus keeps all the gear in one place.

Now to get out on the water for full day!.

There will be days when you get the shot(s) you missed days, months or years before.

Love the setup, and the salt marsh trail!

For what it is worth, I've been kayaking a lot lately and find them a lot more stable than a canoe, even in tidal waters.

I'd love to hit up the salt marsh this time of year at low tide, there ought to be a whole heck of a lot of shorebirds.

Been away for a couple of days at sea. tks for the comments.

I tried kayaking but the position was not good for me, I have a couple of discs that are problematic and that position caused me problems for a couple of days after kayaking. I have a sit-backer canoe seat from MEC that provides me with great support and the higher seating postion allows me to adjust my legs when I need. The stabilizer keeps me out of the water! LOL

I did enjoy it tho.
