So I made my first panoramic photo and would like to get it printed, but I'm not sure what size or where to get it printed from. I took 4 shots with my 1Ds2 and stitched them together. I was hoping for a print about 6 feet long or so, but I'm not sure if the detail will hold or how tall I'd have to have the picture.

Once that gets figured out, all of the sites I usually get my prints from pretty much have standard sizes, and no panorama option. Does anybody have any experience getting these printed?

I use Bay Photo for most of my printing. I've never had them print anything quite that big, but I'm guessing they can, and they'll print custom dimensions. Generally, they'll just charge you for the next size up. There are at least a couple companies out there that specialize in large prints. Unfortunately, I can't think of the names at the moment, but I'm sure someone else will and let you know.

As far as the quality, it really depends on how close the viewer will be. You could always digitally up-res it to those dimensions and then just take something like an 8"x10" section of it and print that out to see if you're happy with the quality. Photoshop usually does a pretty good job with up-resing photos, but for something that size, you may end up needing a specialized program. . .again, it depends a great deal on viewing distance.

They look good on the computer screen, but I've never had a panorama stitch printed before.

But I recently had a Grand Canyon panoramic stitch printed by these folks...

It's about 4 feet long.
And wow... does it looks good.

Got a local company to frame it & it's now on our lounge wall.
