I'm in no way in your leage Franck, but I try often to pan too. Sometimes it works out, sometimes it's just rubish.
When I see how low you go here it's frustrating to me ;)

But If I got a nickle for every time I heard : "Oh to bad that picture is blurred :(" I would be rich. (Even when the pan is perfectly fine)

Possibly you're confusing what you expect to see vs. what I'm trying to show? ; ) Maybe this one will make you happier.

I really like this one a lot, it's a great shot. But your first batch just isn't my cup of tea.

That's OK with me, Mark. I'm a little disappointed that nobody else from here seems to have gone out there, either. Actually, the best time is the month leading up to the cruise. Next year, stop by "The Shell" at 13-1/2 & Woodward, kick some tires, & enjoy the show. ; )

Embarrassingly enough, I was usually across the street with the street racers. That won't be the case when I go back.

Actually, it's constantly surprising to me, too! Just remember that I do throw a LOT away.

But If I got a nickle for every time I heard : "Oh to bad that picture is blurred :(" I would be rich. (Even when the pan is perfectly fine)

Isn't that the truth! ; D
Shoot what inspires you because (1) you don't have to satisfy anyone else, & (2) you never know when someone will come along & say, "I like what you've done with these & want to pay you to do some for me."

Isn't that what makes photography fun & interesting?
Except for when I had this manager who could never make up his mind & would pull in people walking down the hall to ask what they liked best. Consequently he only was left with the image that anyone could have taken with a cell phone. I quit that job. ; )

Hey, there's nothing wrong with that! It's like hanging out at the drive ins 50 years ago, & it's as much a part of the cruise as anything else.
Except that now maybe we'll remember to take some pictures of it, which is why I try to capture the "flavor" of what Woodward was like back then, & still is to some extent now.

It was usually fun but after 2008, it started to get to be more like Gratiot. Too many "Monster drinking Swaglets" starting trouble. I always preferred it more low key.

I didn't see any of that where I was. They patrol in force around Royal Oak & north. But like you, I'd rather be there in the week leading up to the official cruise.

I like the chrome/polished cobra. I agree, it's not what you'd see everyday, but sometimes it's good to see some out of the box stuff.

Sorry Frank, but the whole "Dream Cruise" is far too much of a clusterf*ck to be enjoyable.

Anyone and everyone who even thinks they have something to show off arrives, the traffic
in the area literally shuts down necessary motions in and out of Beaumont Hospital,
which is a necessary and tangible reality, and the local police can't even manage the crowds.
The noise and fumes are literally unbearable, while the free-for-all attitude of participants
is nothing short of anarchy.

I always appreciate you sharing your shots with us, Frank, but you'd have to admit that the entire event is nothing short of an anachronistic free-for-all of hooligans.

While there are many similar events to be witnessed, the Woodward "Dream Cruise" has turned out to be nothing less than a free-for-all for participants world-wide.
At the same time, events such as the Concours D'Elegance at St. John's have established a much higher standard of showmanship and class, resulting in far finer photo opportunities.

Your photos are fine, Frank, but please consider a better level of venue next year.
I'll be glad to meet with you and show you around.

I agree. There were even some nice GT-40s out there, along with herds of very clean stockers.

I'd agree that, for the residents, the official Saturday event leaves a lot to be desired. Which is why I suggest that people come early in the week, & even the month before. The cruisers are out there all Summer: Pre-Dream Cruise Warm-Up July 13, 2013
But for people from out of town who never see cars like these during the year, it can be fun to just walk a mile along Woodward, kick tires, & talk to people. Which is kind of what the drive-ins were like decades ago when this whole thing started.

Anyone and everyone who even thinks they have something to show off arrives,

I don't mind that so much. Every once & a while something really cool like this comes along:

But I wish that all the moms & their mini-vans would just get out of the designated cruiser lanes or park them somewhere.

The noise and fumes are literally unbearable,

For some of us, that's a big part of the fun?

while the free-for-all attitude of participants is nothing short of anarchy... the entire event is nothing short of an anachronistic free-for-all of hooligans.

There are a few, like the a-hole in the black diesel pickup who likes to leave a huge black cloud that hangs in the air for 5 minutes every time he moves, but generally I didn't see anyone that far out of line. I always see herds of 4-6 police on Harleys passing by who don't seem to have much to do. Maybe if they all had paintball guns, they could clear people who don't belong there out of the designated cruiser lanes?

I'll be glad to meet with you and show you around.

Thanks! But in previous years I've walked Woodward from 13-1/2 mile down to 9 mile, & I pretty much know where I want to be now.

There is something there for everyone, & like most any other event, it's what the individual makes of it. Love it, or hate it, it's not going to go away!

That's the great thing about Woodward. You never know what you're going to see out there!
