I'm lucky enough to live near all the filming locations for the walking dead, and have just begun an amateur career at stalking celebrities who work on the show. I'm only having limited luck in driving the stars nuts, but I've gotten a few tweets and emails from a couple of them.
They all live around here during filming (because they kind of need to be nearby), so those of us who have no life (or who have a life but like to act stupid) try to figure out where they are and then brag to nobody in particular when we meet them.
Silly stuff, really, but it's kind of encouraged (dedicated fans are called Walker Stalkers), and since nobody (at least those of us who are sane) just do it for fun, no worries. The only star who really has to watch it is Daryl. The ladies are nuts on the guy (Norman Reedus), so he probably has to hide a bit. The rest of them are just goofballs who made it big. They were mostly unknowns before the show started.
Anyway, I like to take pics of the film locations. Sometimes I make them realistic, sometimes HDR, sometimes totally over-cooked. Whatever mood I'm in.
Here are a few from today:
1. This is the winter camp from the end of season two. The group stayed there, and Rick was in a really bad mood and yelled that it was no longer a democracy. He had just killed Shane a day earlier, so his disposition was rough (especially since his wife was very upset that Shane was gone). Oh well. Poor Rick. This spot is called Elder's Mill in Coweta County, Georgia. I can't get closer because all this crap is now a pay-approach for fans (tours, yada yada). No Trespassing signs are at all the film locations (as if we're going to trash them....oh well).
2. This is the church the group found while they were looking for Sophie. There were a couple zombies worshipping inside. It's actually a regular functioning church. This is not an HDR. I was too lazy.
3. This is the old grinding mill (actually, Purina pet foods) that Rick goes to in order to meet the Governor. They argue and nothing is settled. Eventually Merle's last stand is here near the end of season three.
4. This is the intersection where Rick and Shane have a little man-to-man talk about Lori. Rick tells Shane to chill out (which obviously doesn't work) as the two are on their way to dump the kid they found at the bar.
5. This is a dog.
