As my signature says, I have a 17-40 f4L, a 50 1.4 and the 80-200 f2.8L. I have a lead on a good condition 24-105 for $500. Would this be overkill? Please consider the bodies I have while answering this question as well.

Thanks a bunch!

Wanna tell us what you shoot? If you were ok without a "normal zoom" till now, you'll be fine in the future. You can get them for 600 on fleebay... but if you don't need one, why go through the hassle?

I shoot mostly controlled studio work. I've recently gotten into street photography and just walking around. Occasionally I'll find myself at an abandoned farm or school for a shoot. I'm fairly new at this so I'm still kinda figuring myself and my style out.

For the Studio work then the 24-105 is a must have, you'll be shooting at F4 and up anyway so don't hesitate on this deal

The 24-105 is a terrific studio lens. At that price, I'd grab it!

I guess I'll go for it!

Tapeman, I was thinking of a lens baby. What do you think of yours?

buy it, and use it for as long as you like, then sell for profit. Seems like a no brainer especially since you have multiple bodies. 17-40 on your FF and 24-105 on crop would give you massive range.

Hmm. We must go deeper. 17-40 on the ff, 24-105 on the 1.3 crop and the 80-200 on the aps-c. That covers me from 17-300 right? Haha
