Yeh, the Canon really impresses me. Build-wise, it's similar to the 1785IS (so it feels a bit cheap and plasticky), but optically it's a ringer. .

You can not be serious.....there is nothing "cheap and plasticky" about that lens. It has an excellent non-L build. Granted, it is not finished as nicely as an L lens, but those are superb. So what extreme valuation system are we following here ? If it is not superb, then it becomes cheap and plasticky ?

1D Mk IIN, a few other EOS bodies, a whack of L lenses, a whack of non-L EF lenses.

Oh I'm very serious. My standard is the...let's say...the 120-300EX or 70-200IS. So yes, it feels consumer-grade, cheap and plasticky, like my 1785IS. No 2 ways about it. But optically she's a ringer.

 Cool...I'd say you had a high standard if you did not mention the 120-300. Starting with its jeep undercarriage rust-proofing compound type finish. :D Yeah....it sure is heavy, if that's what you like. I guess, to each his own.

Sorry for the delay. I realized this computer (home/family pc) does not have S/W to finalize a RAw image (last night I shot all raw images).

I will pick up my sister from school and take some pictures at all focal lengths. From 10mm to about 15mm). But they will have to be JPGS because my personal computer is not working right now.

I should be posting them within 2 hours max.

:D

That's all right, for now use the kit lens and if it isn't wide enough, do some pano shots and use autostitch; it's free and works swell. Enjoy.

if i recall, i think thats what i did for my brooklyn bridge pano that im having printed.

Alright, here they are. Large JPGs, no PP. No in camera PP. All levels zero. Handheld.
Focus is middle house. The one with no red scaffolding or roof, also has the sattelite on top pointing towards 1pm or 2pm.

It seems 10.5 / 11 and 14mm are not showing up above. Is it just me or can others also not see them?

All uploaded via imageshack.us. All uploaded successfully.

I was very interested in this lens a while back and while the image quality is good I was very surprised the build didn't reflect the high price, at least in my eyes. Maybe it is much cheaper in the US but in the UK it does feel a little plasticky of that there is no doubt: typical consumer level tho' obvioulsy not as bad as the 50mm 1.8  I'd have expected something like the 17-40mm, which is often cheaper here.

Wow,. the shots of the Sigma on a 1.3X are pretty cool. thanks for posting those.

I could live with the Vignette,.. and the lens would be useable on both my cameras...

Hmmm... much to ponder :)

CDs, I guess I was mistaken when i said vignetting is non-existant from 11.8mm and above.
It is more obvious from 10mm to 12mm,but it remains all the way to 15mm. I had never looked at the image on the computer, on the 1dmkii LCd, it was not clear (vignetting).

What cameras do you have CDS? 1mkii and 20d?
