All my lenses are used and you can get a pretty good idea of reasonable prices by monitoring the sold items either here or on fredmiranda. I got my 70-200 F4 on FM, and my 17-55 here, both for reasonable prices (close to the average sale price for a used copy of that type of lens). I got the 10-22 at the Canon Thanksgiving refurb sale. Getting a refurb from Canon is another good way to go if you can hit one of their sales. Usually, non-L lenses don't go out of stock the femtosecond after the sale starts, like L lenses do

If I don't get the shots I want with the gear I have, the only optics I need to examine is the mirror on the bathroom wall. The root cause will be there.

I've only bought used equipment locally and was able to see, touch and test the lenses, but as stated above, there would need to be a nice discount for me to buy used. Oh, I did buy used from Adorama, but that's a much safer bet and the 1D3 was such a good price for a practically brand new camera with a lifetime warranty.:p

If you buy used, please do not use the gift option on paypal - just pay the fee and have some insurance just in case things go sideways.

I sold one virtually mint for $275. Its a nice lens optically, but it feels soo cheap. I really wish i had kept it now that I have a full-frame.
