This an an upgraded version of the current (now old) 55-250 mm kit lens with a quiet STM motor for video use and full time manual focus. It should be available this month.

It looks to be a significant upgrade and a terrific starter kit lens. Not sure if the already good optics at this price point have been improved on.

I like the sample image on the website, i think every damn picture with whatever lens looks as sharp as that when cropped to 200px weight

I'm hoping someone will post some high resolution samples very soon. Do you know if this lens have the super spectra coatings?
