Too much! See the guidlines for this thread: “And don't go overboard with the editing. So no adding in sharks jumping out of the water for extra coolness. The idea is to finish the photo, not to edit it so much that it's unrecognizable

Where did that come from? I've won several of these challenges and always have totally redefined the image. I've added castles, dragons, outer space landscapes, oceans, star fields, and knights on horses. I never even considered just processing the picture. :-|

An example (for which I won):

Don't sweat it, most of us ignore that line from the first post on page 1...we process the way we do, if the owner of the weekly challenge doesn't like it, so be it.

So, perhaps the guidelines should be redefined.

"Its a Lifestyle"
Look at this beautiful 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom + carport home for sale, and check out THAT VIEW.
The driveway may need a little work so it can be used in any weather, but check out THAT VIEW.
The house is on a stunning flood plain, it MAY see some water from time to time, but check out THAT VIEW.
Folks these don't come along very often around these parts.
Motivated vendor, no NEAR neighbors for MILES.

All editing in CS5, background courtesy of google images. Just for fun. ;-)a

I love the concept of this photo, but why not match the color tone of the house to the surroundings. It looks like a Photoshopped image, instead of just being a really cool image.

I'd say match the color tone, do something with the window reflections, and you would have a gallery worthy image. :-)

Medd63, I coulda shoulda woulda but it was just a bit of fun.
I'm still happy with the result, even if it was a dirty edit. Basically didn't put enough time into it.
Thanks for the kudos about the concept, appreciated.
PS I really DID think about the window reflections, but then thought...............coulda shoulda woulda! :p

Well after taking Medd63 personal attack on my above image to heart, knowing full well that I'm a sensitive new age guy..... :-D :p

Medd63, is this more along the lines you were thinking, I spent a little more time but not much on it. Reflections I think are the downfall?
Again, just for fun. Still think its Photoshopped!!!!!!

That's a little closer to what I was thinking. But I liked the color tone in your original better. The "blue bleakness" was perfect for the scene. Change the house to match the background, not the background to match the house.

I'm flattered that my "personal attack" inspired you to have another go. :-)

Much prefer the first one Butts. Love the surreal quality it displays. It's this week's winner though either way.

Thanks to everyone that took the time to edit my submitted raw file for this week. There are a lot of interesting interpretations on what the final look is. Keep in mind though to describe what you did to edit the file to get that final look so others can learn from your expertise...that's the point of this thread after all.

For this week I'll go with the edit Butts did as the winner...but, I do wonder where are the tire tracks leading from the driveway. :)

For runner-up, I'll go with Chet's edit. I also like his detailed explanation of what he did.

Here is my original edit. Since the scene is late afternoon after a thunderstorm, I wanted to keep a lot of contrast in the image for a more dramatic look. I also added some light rays.

Congrats to Butts and Chet. For the newest challenge, it's Butts turn to submit a raw image for editing.
