The last (well that's what they say now) RAF Leuchars Airshow took place on Saturday. Despite the weather looking damp elsewhere the airshow missed any real rain however the air was heavy with moisture and it was blowing a bit. That's my explanation for the strange vortices off the prop of this Fennec.

It was a bit on the dull side for a lot of the show but I'll see if any others are worth posting.

It's basically the same effect you see at the wingtips of a plane in a tight (high-G) turn.
In this case the vorticies come off the "wingtips" of the propeller airfoil.

That's a pretty dramatic instance. The helix goes almost to the tail of the T-28.
Nice shot!

Little bit of humidity and you got the "corkscrew" off the prop. Nice capture!

That's pretty cool. What was your shutter speed?

Yup! Awesome! There's a guy in our aviation photog club that has gotten this several times on C-130's and it's really strange but fun. Not sure where he grabbed his pics cause we certainly don't have the humidity here!
