great blue skies Thomas, one critique if I could...you gotta slow the shutter speed down to get some prop blur. They are nice and sharp, but the frozen prop makes it look like they're gonna fall out of the skies

YES, slow down your shutter speed or expect a lot of negative comments on the things you'll be shooting from here on. I see a lot of "dead stick" planes at R/C events but not at the airport.

Nice shots, especially the biplane.

On some of these it looks like you were close to the action. Where were you shooting from? Were you sitting in the grandstands? Any suggestions on shooting locations? Many thanks.

As a suggestion based on the full scale air show I shot last year featuring mainly old warbirds I'd recommend 1/320 as your max shutter speed for the prop planes. Also based on my R/C events and only important if it gets overcast (less likely in that part of the world) expose for the planes & not the general scene.

Nice shots. If you enjoyed it, I really suggest going in as a spectator for two reasons. 1. You support something - financially with your entrance fee which is truly one of a kind and inevitably costs more each year to run. 2. The Photo ops are AMAZING there, particularly the pits area.

Ouch! One of our pit guys got a pic of the incident, but I don't have it. Saw the Raptor in the parking lot at the hotel, didn't look too bad other than huge chunk out of the right front. They stowed Mintzi III in a hangar and shut the doors quickly to keep all the shutterbugs out.

232 had their cowl separate from the aircraft in the Unlimited Gold race. Mayday and safe landing, but the crowds were enormous when they pulled it in to the pits. (Yes, I was in our pit and took a few shots from a distance.)
