I am seeing many ads for NEW 5D III for prices between 2500 and 2600 dollars. It is an Ebay ad for $$2549 for a new 5D III and the seller has a 98.2% positive feedback. It is really hard to believe. Has anyone been able to buy one of these?? If so, what did you actually get?

I am wanting a 5D III and money is the hold-up, but for $2549 & free shipping, it would be very tempting.

I am not trying to advertise for them, since I am not adding a link to the site, but I just wanted to know if anyone has got good results from this kind of deal.

If this is Big Value Inc, then its a mixed bag. Some people claim they didn't receive OEM Charger or the item is not new. or no warranty card. Check their feedbacks.

Personally, I'm happy with my purchase and many others in the forum has reported the same satisfaction. I bought a 6D from them and I got a US model, with all accessories, brand new.

eye2i, yes, it is Big Value Inc. Your report of getting good result is encouraging, but I guess I need to hear from someone who has bought a 5D III, or maybe more than one.

One report on CanonPriceWatch's Facebook page said someone from this batch got one (sounded like it just arrived today and he jumped on it when it announced) with a Japanese warranty card. Consensus seemed to be if you didn't mind the potential warranty issue then it's a deal, if the warranty was a concern then, save the pennies and go to B&H offering one with a printer for ~3100 or one of the other vendors with body only at MAP.

I also bought my 5DIII from them  but I already sold that and downgraded to a 6D, also from them.

Its a risk I took. Considering people in the forum were selling used items for more, I figured its worth a shot. I mean, they're not a total scammer, they have questionable reputation based on feedbacks but overall, they seem to have more satisfied buyers. Worst case scenario, I'm covered by either EBAY, Paypal or if that doesn;t work, my credit company also has my back.

You will get a camera with a Kit box most likely. I think this is why some people are upset, its because they all think a camera from a kit box is misleading. I also remember a ton of their negative feedbacks were from people who were upset about delayed shipping months ago. I think they ran a similar deal of $2500.00 around Christmas day and some people were upset due to late shipping.

GL!

For that price, look into getting a refurb 5dIII from Canon's CLP program. ~$2400 plus tax. Mine looked like brand new and had less then 100 frames on it, plus they come with 1 year warranty now.

I bought one. Frankly I didn't even look for the card but it was a new camera with all accessories. Totally happy with my transaction with them.

I don't understand how these prices are "too good to be true". At the start of the year people (8 months ago) there were a few deals for used units going for $2,500 before the price went back up again.

That and the refurb deals at $2,400...

Look at the 6D - $2,100 after refurb for Kit + printer... (although if you miss the promo from BH or adorama it's $2,200)

Gray market camera, which is same camera we all get but you won't get the warranty. If something breaks then ur out of pocket for it.

I keep track of 5DIII price on a spreadsheet. Bigvalueinc got it listed on Nov 23, 2012 for $2499.99 (body) so current price is slightly higher. Adorama on Ebay lowest asking price was $2749.99 (body) about a year ago.

^^^^^^THIS^^^^^^^^

Yep and it's not out of the realm of possibility for there to be a major malfunction on a new camera. I've seen a few posts reporting d.o.a bodies. That would be a real hoot to have to pay hundreds of dollars to repair a brand new camera.

OK, now I love this price, but I am a big warranty guy. So the deal would not be right for me. I do like the idea of the $2400 Refurb with a 1 year warranty. I could probably extend that warranty to 3 years for a couple of hundred bucks, so for around $2600 have a like-new camera with a big warranty.

My 40D is a refurb, so I have jumped into those waters before.

Refurbs only have a 90 day warranty unless you get a 3rd party one, some place like Adorama will offer them.

Grey markets can also have the full Canon warranty, but you have to send the Camera to the country the warranty card is for.

I just saw on Canon's Refurb site that they offer a 1 year warranty.

Oh, when did they start doing that?

That's definitely better(for the consumers) than only 90 days like it used to be, especially since a lot of the time the refurb price was only slightly less than new.

Well if mine makes it through the next few months I won't feel cheated for only getting 90 days.
