I ordered Canon EF600 lens two months ago with a Canon Dealer in my city and now came to know that due to sudden surge in 600 mm lens demand, Canon is having a huge back log of orders from Asian Countries and deliveries are getting delayed by 3-5 months depending on country.

In India now the delivery of my ordered lens is expected to be by middle of October 2013.

Unfortunately neither the new EF 600 mm f/4L IS II USM nor the previous EF 600 mm f/4L IS USM are in stock at a few of the larger dealers here in Sweden either. Otherwise, you could have had a reason for a nice vacation trip to Scandinavia!

Canon made it too cheap and now they can't keep up with the demand.

Bobbyz

I'm getting it for US$11K here in India, further lenses bought elsewhere are not covered under Canon Indian warranty and they treat such lenses as Grey Market ones.

That is a nice price. Forgot about the warranty.

BTW - I am originally from Punjab. Used to shoot birds but sold my 500mm f4 due to small kids.

Bobbyz

I'm also from Punjab but settled in Bangalore, India.

The price at what I'm getting is Rs. 7.2L (Approx. $11K) with 2 Years warranty.

OH those pesky kid infestations are worse than bed bugs. It takes
forever to get rid of them, and you're never sure they are truly gone :-)

The 600 F/4 L IS II are running between $10800.00 and $11000.00
in Canada right now, so $11000.00 with a 2 year warranty is a good
deal. Hope they can get you one sooner than they are quoting.

What do you do for a living that you are able to afford one of canons most expensive lenses in one of the worlds poorest countries?

Elite? Nobility? Government official?

Just curious. :D

What?!?!? Are you really serious with that statement? India is 10th largest economy in the world, part of G-20 countries. There are so many billionaires from India. Do you know that the owner of Land Rover company is Indian company called Tata group? Where did you get the assumption that India is a poor country? Yes there are millions of poor people too but by no means its a poor country.

Btw, I'm not Indian, just trying to educate some people here.
