Hey folks,
my Canon EOS 650D is not turning back on.

I used her a few days ago for the last time. As I wanted to start it again today to take some pictures nothing happend. I realized the batteries where empty, so I reloaded them but no change. So I released the battergrip and entered the battery directly into the camera, no change.

Any Idea of what that could be?

thanks

If the battery was empty, you did recharge it before reinstalling it didn't you?

Is the grip a Canon grip or a third party? Are all of the batteries Canon or third party?

Most of the grips for the 650D (T4i) has a device to use (6) AA batteries. Test it with "fresh" AA's and if it works it is likely time to replace the recharageable battery.

May sound silly but if you press 'menu' does any menu load up? I ask as I did see someone who thought their camera was not turning on but actually the sensor above the screen was dirty and thinking there was someone looking through the viewfinder and so keeping the screen from turning on. Also what John said about trying some AA batteries if you can as it may just be a dodgy battery.

A couple thoughts

press the info button to make sure you are not just looking at a black screen

check the micro switch at the bottom of the battery door

like others said, try a freshly charged battery.

Yes I did recharge the Battery prior to test it again.

The Grip is thirdparty from Phottix Modellnumber BG-550D. One Battery is Canon the other is a third party one from KingMa. Meanwhile I found, when I charge both Batteries only the one from KingMa is letting me turning on the Camera.

I will check that, but I first need to buy some batteries.

Will do that tomorrow, need to buy some first.

The Problem is. After entering the KingMa Battery it works. As soon as I change the SDHC Card, the Camera is black even after pressing buttons. I need to eject an reinstall the battery first.

I can't find any switch there.

The thing is I bought this camera in September in Shanghai, while I was living there. And I can't find the cheque anymore.

thanks winam!

If you open the battery compartment there is a small, bit of plastic standing up on the non-hinged edge of the door. When shut this lines up with a hole inside the bettery compartment, thats the micro switch.

The whole is under the bettery cover, twards ther back of the camera just near the angular grey plastic bit that holds the battery in place (the bit you have to push to release the battery).

The switch is activated by pushing the level inside that hole towards the grey bit.

Sorry for the odd description, the only camera I have is my 650D so can't take a photo of the battery compartment to simply label this up for you :)
