Dear Board,

Here are a few shots from a local park.

I thought doe's typically have twins but here are three fawns with one doe

I know there's nothing special here but I'm enjoying my attempts to capture a decent photo and eventually like that old blind hog, I'll find an acorn.

Regards,

Tim Murphy :)

I like that lost shot. The lighting is really nice.

Dear dbricks and jefzor,

Yes, the 3rd one is my favorite and definitely the best. I know I could get some better photos if I could pattern the deer and their movements a little better instead of just driving up to the park after dinner and hoping for the best.

I've also had some opportunities for better shots but I wasn't always prepared for them. The really annoying ones happen on my morning commute to work. There are always deer along the road I travel but I have to be too busy driving to stop and take pictures.

But I'm enjoying myself and the learning process and that's what counts to me.

Regards,

Tim Murphy

You have got a nice start with these. I struggle to get a decent photo of our local deer as well. Guess you will have to leave a little early for work one of these mornings, giving you time to stop and get a few shots!

Try going there in the weekend, early in the morning. If you could bring along your body with siggy 150-500 along with you (keep it ready to shoot, auto ISO 1/800s or something, in the front seat) when you drive to work and you leave home 15 minutes earlier, that could give you some nice photo opportunities too. I can see that because of the size, it could be hard to drag it along to your work.

Dear jefzor,

The camera and 150-500 actually ride with me to and from work each day. Nowadays the problem is I leave for work too early. The sun is just coming up at 6:30 AM and there isn't enough light. Neither of my bodies are much for ISO over 800 and I can barely get a shutter speed over 1/90 @ f5.6. Even the IS isn't much help at that point.

That will change with the end of DST. Then hopefully I'll be able to catch some shots on the way home from work. The deer around here tend to stick to their patterns. The fields that have deer in them in the dawn's early light also have deer when the sun fades away.

I'll stick with it and post more when I get more.

Regards,

Tim Murphy :)
