I really like this shot I took in Yellow Stone NP earlier this year and decided to go B/W with it. The grass was mostly bland yellowish/green and the mid day sun created a huge dynamic range difference between the exposed areas and shadowed areas. My two main concerns are;

Is it too washed out?

&

Can you distinguish the Coyote enough?

Any other pointers an cc would be awesome!

If you didn't mention the coyote, then I don't think I would have noticed it until later. It's not as striking as the title portrayed it to be. From what I can imagine, I agree with your reasoning about the grass. I probably would have made it black and white as well.

Yellowstone is beautiful place with some interesting wildlife within camera range. I'm afraid your image just doesn't contain enough of that wildlife. The two are separated by a fairly big piece of property, you are a long way off, and that coyote is awful small, not to mention well camouflaged. You might try cropping more but I suspect you've already done that.

Certainly good enough to invoke memories of a great trip though.

I'd crop more off the right & left sides.

Have you considered moving them closer to each other and then cropping? I didn't have much to work with since the image is so small, but I moved the buffalo closer to the coyote and cropped to an 8 x 10.
I don't normally change wildlife images in this manner, but this image doesn't allow many options.

I hadn't considered that. In your version I get the feeling that the coyote might be thinking of attacking.
In the original, I feel that neither wants to turn their back on the other. But that's just me. ; )

I think if you cropped all four sides then printed it huge, it would look great over the sofa. The coyote wouldn't get lost in the small size and compression required for POTN.

Some images need to be printed to be appreciated. I think this is one.
