ACTION !

This week's challenge will be photos that show ACTION. What I'm thinking about are sports, airshows, auto, motorcycle, or boat racing, and I'm sure the creative minds here will come up with action shots I've never even dreamed of. A Submission, EXIF and photograph name are all that is needed. Simply follow the below posted rules, and let your submission speak for itself.

Please keep in mind that the winner of this competition will be in charge of the next week's competition. You will be choosing the theme for the week and picking the winner at the end of the contest.

One more thing; do not forget to include the photograph's name in the message subject line of your post.


This challenge begins when posted, and will end at 10:00 p.m. Eastern time Thursday, 19 September 2013. Winner of this challenge will be announced shortly thereafter.

Photo Submissions:

1. Camera - Any Canon DSLR Camera
2. Time - any on-topic photo taken at any time is eligible, although photos that have won other competitions should NOT be entered.
3. Size - Please visit Image Posting Rules.
4. Post-Processing - do whatever you like and the host will decide if it works.
5. Posting - * ONE PHOTO per photographer in each challenge.* Photo Name in the message subject line.* Camera model & lens used.* Notes -- post brief EXIF data including ISO, shutter speed and aperture used.
6. Commenting - No commenting during challenge. When the posting is closed and a winner has been declared, comments can be made in this thread.
7. Keep it clean, and both Family and Work safe.
8. Have questions, PM me.

Wow, a lot of great photos and such a wide variety of subjects. I have to say, the part of hosting this weekly contest where a single winner has to be chosen is tough. It's obvious that all the entrants are very talented, so I really hate choosing just one winner (but of course I must). My apologies to everyone who entered, I need to make this really quick as I owe it to everyone to declare a winner and let them get on with the next contest - I'm doing this on my lunch break from work and I'm unexpectedly very busy today and therefore won't have time to comment on each photo as many of the other hosts have done.


Let me quickly say that I loved "Jump" by alasavio, that is such a cute photo.
Kevan, I've seen your photos in several of the groups here, and as always "Oh... there's one!" is great.
kbColorado, I've never seen a dog so vigorously shaking himself off, fantastic catch.
"focus" by Voaky999 is a great shot, you can really see the intensity in the player's eyes.

And I'll declare "Breaching Humpback" by Maureen Souza this weeks winner. I don't know what to say except that it's perfect.

Fun to look at all the entries and when I saw all the dog shots, I gave myself a 'V8' smack to the forehead, saying, "I shoulda put up a dog photo!" Well, here's what I had in mind, spurred by the other excellent dog entries:

I was rooting for Paul's spin dry shot but I also loved Kel's shot. So many great entries, I think this is one of the best group efforts & thankful I didn't have to judge it.

The story behind the whale shot is not too interesting. We spend a week in Maui every February out on Lahaina Bay with the humpback whales who are breeding & calving. We have been whale watching all around the globe for 18 years & we are addicted
