The time has come to display some of my images in my home. I am interested in extending my creative touches to photo mounting. However, since I am treading in unfamiliar territory, I really need to educate myself on the various techniques.

I would appreciate any recommendations on books & other sources on the subject. Thank you kindly.

Do you want frames or no frames, is the first major question I would ask yourself. I do not like frames myself, so everything I do I try and do frame less. Mounted on Gator Board or foam core, or on Metal or Ceramic Tile just to name a few.

... Mounted on Gator Board or foam core, ...

ive mounted a LOT of stuff on foamcore... gator board is better (okay i like it a LOT) but its more pricey...

i dont have any of my photos hanging in my house (i dont THINK i do anyway) but a do like a simple black wood frame with a white mat, but sometimes that lends itself better to B/W images...

-im just trying. sometimes i succeed

Yes Gator board is TONS better, I have started using sheet metal as well, with a nut welded on the back and a bolt in that, then the head of the bolt can slide into a slotted track.

I am always playing with ideas and ways to mount. I am almost to the point that its all my work hanging in the house, just 3 more large pieces left to replace :) I cant stand it when someone comes in and says "Did you shoot that one too" and I have to say "no "

Do you have any pictures of your sheet metal in a track setup?
Do you have them at varying heights or just line them up?

Not sure anyone actually answered your question. I found this book helpful:

Since it is pretty old, you can buy it used for a song so not much risk.
