Landscape photography is my comfort zone, so these are a bit of a stretch for me. However, I'll be damned if I'm going to pay someone to shoot my daughter without even giving it a try. :)

I used a Lumpro flash on a shoot through umbrella which seemed to work at the time, but left some harsh spots on her face which took most of the effort to process out. I could have used the same umbrella to bounce the light, but I wasn't sure which diffuses the light better.

If you see any way to improve these shots please let me know.

Bounced one would be softer, no? Correct me if I'm wrong.

Another question - did you needed that. Third pic, for example, looks like your primary choice was the right one. Why there's that have-no-idea-what in the front - that's another question :]

The flash looks placed to low in the photos by the look of the shadows. I would have gone higher and more centered.

First, beautiful daughter. I'm sure you're glad she doesn't take after you. :D Second, I agree with the placement of the lighting. By having it at her level, it causes odd shadows. We're used to seeing things lit with light coming from above so anything else tends to look unnatural.

I also know that Jon is a bit of a perfectionist so I feel confident he'll get some Senior Portraits his daughter will be proud to have.

Ditto...

#3 the first thing I thought was flash is way too low.

Here's another from that first day, as the weekend was washed out here in CO. Due to the brighter tones, I tried a reverse vignette.

Nice one! I like the reverse vignette.
I think a tad more contrast and a smidge brighter in the face and it's perfect! (All technical terms! :) )

Jon, on my monitor, there is a green tint to the image and to me, her eyes look lifeless with no catchlight to speak of.

Here's a quick edit where I tried to adjust the w/b for my monitor (although it may be a smidge on the red side) and brightened her eyes a bit. I also reversed your reverse vignette some. :D
