Just in case anyone is planning a trip to RMNP, parts of highways 7 and 34 are gone. Highway 36 is also closed, but I cannot locate any info about damage to it. These are the only roads leading to Estes Park from the east, and the damage to 34 is rather extensive in the Big Thompson Canyon west of Loveland. If you've been through there, you know how beefy that road was. It was rebuilt with lots of concrete and steel after the disastrous Big Thompson flood of 1976, which killed 143 people. It is a true testament to Mother Nature's forces to see how that road is almost completely gone. It will likely be a year or more before it is rebuilt.

There are still about 300 people that are unaccounted for. Most are probably stranded, but I suspect some have been killed.

Right now, it looks like the only way into RMNP is through Granby on the west side of the park, then Trail Ridge Road to Estes Park. Trail Ridge Road will probably close for the season in mid-November.

"Raw" is not an acronym, abbreviation, nor a proper noun; thus, it should not be in capital letters.

Tony thanks for this info as I was hopefully planning on hitting this park again within the next couple weeks, I have a two week vacation I'm spending in CO, utah and at the grand canyon. but yeah noted all that devastation the last few days, thanks for the info on the road closures.

Pretty sad seeing the coverage on the news. soo much lost. hope everyone is ok out there :(

It's my understanding the only way into Estes Park is from the west. They are only allowing residents and essential people and services through though.

Um... Hi

Be safe our Colorado POTN friends. Prayers are with you all!

RMNP web site states "Trail Ridge Road is OPEN to essential travel only"

Other Estes park and Natl Park access and flood alert road condition notices are on their website RMNP web site -
