I think most people have more than one. I think I have seven, since I rarely sell or give one away!

I have two :) Nice to have as a backup or to use 24-105 and 70-200 without switching lenses.

I think he's trying to convince his wife to buy a second body "See honey? They all do!"

I currently have 3 DSLRs (40D, 5D, 5DIII) I sold the 20D as it wasn't getting used, I can do everything I need with three bodies as I don't make a living with them, it's just a hobby.

When I first went fully digital, in 2004 (I had digital P&S and bridge cameras before that) it was with one body (the 20D) and three lenses. Having become used to working with multiple bodies for many years, I found that incredibly frustrating and irritating, so the year after I added the 5D to the stable. I could live with two, so that did me for a few years then I was offered a used 40D, in mint condition, at a very good price so I upgraded the crop side of things. That meant I could carry three bodies which was useful at times, but my main walkaround was the 40D / 5D combo, although the "main" body differed according to what I was shooting, and at times it would be the 5D left in the bag and the 20D and 40D doing all the work, if the subject didn't suit the 5D.

Whereas work load was usually split fairly evenly between the 5D and 40D, with the 5D getting picked for landscape and portrait etc., and the 40D taking the lead for sports and wildlife / birds etc. I have found that the 5DIII is a very capable all rounder and it is now very rare that I am in a situation where the 40D is my first choice, although it still sees use as my second body, alternating with the 5D according to subject matter. I wouldn't want the 5DIII as my only body though.

I do also have other cameras as well :D. Several more digitals (P&Ss and two Fuji bridge cameras) several old 35mm SLRs, an old TLR and my latest acquisition - a 1927 Kodak Box Brownie, bought to try and show that it's the photographer that matters, not the equipment (of course, I may need to find a better photographer to use it).
