Does someone own 2 bodies or more?

Personally own 6 bodies. And 12 more parked under my company.

So as someone with a few bodies laying around the house, I think this is interesting in the gear threads because:

The reason I bet most of us keep these bodies is because we know and like them and most importantly can't stand selling them for or isn't worth it to us to sell for what the market value of them is.


That said, it is the same people in general (I am not always exempt myself) who say we need/want newe/different bodies because something is lacking, but clearly not lacking so much as to sell off some of what we have, ergo they are very useable and useful.

I would also state that the reason for keeping an older body, expect just liking it, could depend on the characteristics or specific features that you have come to use.

I have a 6D and EOS M. Looking to add either another 6D/5D3 or when/if released 7D2.

I have only one so far. It was a gift for my birthday last year. I know I want to buy a second one but I'm still undecided on which one to get. And given my latest expenses, I may have to wait a little.

my wife, me and 2 kids.... so I have 4 bodies...

I tend to keep my cameras mostly because when (and if) I am ready to sell them, I won't get much for them, so why bother? (My lineup of cameras are listed below, and I still use them all!)

Recently gave my niece's husband my 5D (non IR). He has a 20D too and wanted to upgrade, so I helped him out, then shot a wedding with him! He now uses his 20D for a photo booth he shoots at and the 5D for other shoots!

Not listed is my "old" Sony Mavica's that use floppy disks. Still work fine and even have a battery that let's me shoot for a little bit ... one is a .8mp and the other is 2.1mp ... ). I looked up the going price on E-Bay for my Sony Mavica FD-91 (.08mp) a few years back and it was listed for $75 and nobody was bidding on it ... hmmmm, wonder why? Figured, why bother!

Also still have my old Minolta X-700 35mm and take it out (along with my Canon Elan 7NE) and shoot a roll of film on occasion!

personally, I have 2 bodies (Canon and Sony). I recently gave away an XTI to someone I know will use it and appreciate the gift. Selling the XTi for $150 or less is not as rewarding for me as giving it to someone who would not own a DSLr otherwise.

I don't sell my old equipment though I might give something to one of my daughters so I still have the following working cameras: AE-1, Canonette 28, Canon G3, 7D, & 5Diii. I have a couple of non-functioning cameras and would still have a 40D if it hadn't been stolen.

I may get my 3rd body by 2015, (probably 5D mark III or 6d)

I've had as many as 3 DSLR bodies at one point (plus a fuji x100) but i've pared down to two bodies and the x100.

I had 3, but then I gave my oldest body to my brother. If you do any sessions that people are depending on you to get the shots, you had better have at least 2 bodies. I was doing a wedding a few years ago, and my 40D's shutter crapped out. I finished with my trusty old XTi, and it saved the day. If it is indoor stuff, then 2 flashes wouldn't hurt either.

Lord willing, I will always have 2. Someday I want to get a 5D III, and when that happens the 40D will go to my nephew, and I will keep my 7D as my backup and birder.

Have a canon 5 mark iii and a nikon d800...so 2 for me .

This is a hobby and camera equipment is just stuff. I'm not a working pro, nor a occasionally working amateur who thinks it's critical to never miss a shot. (See all the 2-4 bodies, one lens per body posts).

I have one body. Two if I haven't sold the last one yet.

I have two DSLRS - 60D and SL1 + a few point and shoots, the primary being the Panasonic Lumix LX7. I won't sell any of my bodies, I'll just buy more once I've saved enough. Next step is a full-frame, but probably won't be until the next round of Canons as I want to invest in more glass first.
