That said, the principle of 'show what you want to shoot' may be relevant here.

But Irrecently took the imageaand edited it to have that space. After looking for a while I thought it fits as it almost looks like he's looking at the details. Instagram

Any specific reason it's not a good image? There is little emotion evoked by it. Could be a snap taken by a parent. Doesn't say portrait photographer. It is a picture you'd see someone having printed and framed on their wall. Show what you sell. Peter

Who are the main people to influence with selling portrait photography packages... the mums. Black looks really "dark" and doesn't say "look at that little cutie I just have to have something like that". I'd start over on the whole design if I were you. Thanks. Instagram

So you're saying it is a" snap taken by a parent", but then that someone would pay for it and have it on their wall. Do you think it's not 'saleable' (obviously not that one as it's my son ) I definitely agree that mums are the target and perhaps that doesn't appeal. It's something I quite like (obviously) but then I'm not the target. No I don't think it is a saleable picture. I doubt it would sell a session either. The problem occurred here "It's something I quite like". You were thinking with a bias as it is your son not thinking as if you were a prospective client. Of course you are going to like an image of your own son. Start thinking like the demographics you are selling to and what they would think. They are your potential clients. Peter

Any specific reason it's not a good image? Just my opinion, but I see nothing in this image that would motivate me to call on you for this kind of service. (In fact, it would have quite the opposite effect for me). Essentially a floating head in a shallow cage like environment with a hand seemingly erupting from his mouth.
