I had a new motherboard installed, my prior one had a short in it.
I contacted NIK about the download, as it is not automated like in the past.

Now one has to contact NIK and they will send the different modules you own in an email for download. All product keys and so forth are embedded in download and it automatically becomes functional once downloaded.

The tech mentioned to me that they have kept all of the engineers (40 or so) and are operating, currently on SnapSeed. (mobile app of course). Google has changed things a little.
He also mentioned that he is not sure if they are working on any further upgrades for the Suite. Interesting.

just a few of my thoughts...

What software? The NIK collection- Silver Efex Pro 2, HDR Efex Pro 2 etc?
I downloaded it the other week from the website

Why did you have to re install after replacing mobo?

How did you contact them? I was on the site the other day and could find no indication anywhere if an upgrade was available or how to contact them. Perhaps I overlooked one or both.

I just saved the original download file (as I do with all programs) and simply re-installed it a few weeks ago after an OS reload - No problems encountered and it didn't need activating or anything, so obviously the file must be embedded with some sort of 'code'?

I hope they do continue to work on the suite though...

Changing the motherboard doesn't format your HD? :)

I hope they keep the suite going, I love it as an addition to LR. The HDR module alone rocks.

I have multiple hard drives, way too complicated for me to explain. When the short or whatever it was occurred, it wiped out some software - NIK being one. It was easy to re-install everything but NIK.
I had a phone number that is still active to contact them. I also sent an email, but the phone was faster response time.

Google now owns the suite. I am not sure if the entire suite is still free for former users, but it's just $149 for the entire suite there and some coupon codes may still work with it bringing the price down to $129.

I just checked, and the link they e-mailed me when I bought the software still functions...

some fairly old canon camera stuff, canon lenses, Manfrotto "thingy", and an M5, also an M6 that has had a 720nm filter bolted onto the sensor:
