how's the light distribution on the EZ-Pro Octa36 using a single speedlight? (even on all areas or does it have a hot spot?)

I can't help you there, I bought this to work with Elinchrom heads. For speedlight I'd be looking at the Westcott Orb or something similar.

I've never tested it, but I would imagine it's pretty good. It does have an inner baffle.

I accidentally drove over my 60" EZ-Pro, and it just laughed. The build quality on these is fantastic.

It's interesting that with no inner diffuser panel, only the outer, the center meters 1 stop under the outside area of the outer diffuser. I didn't think the umbrella mechanism would block that much light.

I've observed similar results on some similar products.

Taking a reading .4 meters from the outer diffuser yields a constant output from the center out to nearly the edge (about 4cm from the edge). It's different falloff, or lack there of, than what I'm use to. I generally shoot without an inner diffuser, feathering the center hot spot out.

I wonder how heavy is FotoDiox Ez-Pro 48" as compared to Elinchrom 53" Octa.

Does anyone has both?
