The "beauty dish" disc it comes with is something I don't use. It's cheap unfortunately, it's a silver painted piece of plastic. It has no securement either, it just sits there and rattles and moves around. The inner baffle spreads the light before it hits the outer baffle. You've seen my light with it, I don't think it's necessary to use the inner disc thing.

If your using a strobe or a bare bulb the light spreads throw the octa like it should. Speedlites can't spread like a strobe because its has a focused front, so the dish is needed to bounce back and fill the octa. I AM SHOM
