Has anyone here actually had their stuff sold from Facebook?
I hear all these privacy changes all the time, but yet to hear of them actually following through with it.

Watched this in the weekend, certainly worth a look: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2084953/ (external link)

Well, I have seen pictures used and credited to Facebook, such as one of those shooting spree guys, the one that also killed him Mom and himself. Facebook took the picutres off his facebook and sold them to the media.

My question is, how can this apply to photos of your work posted by people who don't own the copyright? For example one of my clients posts many of my images taken of her cloths to her business FB page. She has the right to use them for PR and web ads but I still own the copyright. There is no way FB can apply their rules to these images, since I did not post them, right? Same should apply if say a bride uses your image of her for her profile pic...

The really scary thing to me is this bit about to "You give us permission to use your name, and profile picture, content, and information..." for basically any commercial thing they want.

As a rule I don't post my commercial work on there, don't have a business page... but this is just too much from a personal point of view... I am very tempted to delete my whole account!

Any smart photographer adds their watermark to every photo used in social media. Marketing 101. It makes this potential change to FB policies much less significant.

For editorial use I think that is all fine, but to sell as a commercial license for advertising, I haven't seen anything in my feed yet.

...which isn't, by itself, isn't Facebook selling your images. Anyone can grab an image from anywhere and credit anyone.

Have you got a cite for this?

I started to put my signature on my photos, but hiding them; meaning you would have to look for them. I know this doesn't stop theft. At least they are 700 on the long side :)

I don't currently do any advertisement via Facebook, but this is why I only upload low-res files...

I'm really not even worried about FB directly; I primarily do it so that others have difficulty getting good prints from the files that I post there.

I use manual exposure settings on the copy machine

This topic comes up so regularly warning photographers of the demon that is facebook. The bottom line is if you want complete contril of your images host them on your own website. If you give up varying degrees of control hosting using a third party then you accept yheir terms and conditions in doing so. No one is forced to use the services they provide. Don't loke the terms... don't use the services.
