I just sold the 5dc. The 40d usb port is broken, and I can't tether. I'm not going to spend $300 to fix a $250 camera either. So... I will be upgrading to something. I hope I don't end up with seller's remorse on the 5dc.

Your first two points seem to contradict one another, though I suspect both are true to some degree. Case in point: the price of the 60D. Right before the 70D started shipping, new 60Ds dropped to $700 new. After the 70D started shipping, the prices of used 60Ds dropped like a rock since so many wanted to sell theirs to upgrade. I would guess after Christmas, the used 60Ds will regain some of their value, but time will tell. Incorrect... even before the 70D was announced, the 7Ds were around $925-950. Including the announcement and then the release, the 7Ds have dropped about $150. Past Equipment | My Personal Gallery

A handful of times this has happened. The 1D4 went down, then went up, then back down again, the 5D2 fell to $1200-1300, and now sells around $1400-1500 in some cases. Buy what fits your budget and needs. Im going to assume your an ameture like a lot of us, this means the camera is more advanced that we are. In the end what makes a great picture isn't the gear it's the person behind the camera. IMO I'd rather get a ff body instead of a crop sensor. In the end you will want to go that route. I wish I learned that earlier. After 4 crop bodies I finally got a used 5d mark 2 and I wish I did it from the start. Good luck.

However a similar FOV and pixels on target can be achieved with a crop body and a 400mm lens. And a crop body with a $10000 lens is going to get more pixels on that bird. I used to think Live View and swivel screens were more like a gimmick, but I find myself using it all the time on this camera. The servo focus actual works better than I expected. I have had a 7D and 1D body. Canon 70D, 580EXII, 16-35mk 2.8IIL, 50 1.4, 70-200 F2.8 ISL
