Yes I don't think so either ... seems like the 7DII would be the 6D!

Can you please refer us to the link which shows a 7DII is being released? Lets be serious about it...why would Canon want to release one? Trevor

Canon stated, 7D Mark II is going to be groundbreaking. even still, it will nowhere near outmatch FF's ISO and IQ, that alone is a reason for real Pro photographers to stay away from crop and grab for the 1D series. mccamli Goldmember More info | In some respects the 70D is a dumbed down version of the 7D, albeit only fractionally...Why on earth would Canon do that? To preserve sales of the 7D for years to come? I really don't think there's enough of a difference for that to happen.

TeamSpeed 01010100 01010011 More info | If there is a 7D2, it will have to be the pinnacle of the APS-C line, like the 7D was back in 2009. It will need the best features of all the cameras to-date, like HDR, multiexposure, bracketed ISO, touch screen, tilt, dual pixel sensor for movies, etc. It will also need a couple new toys up its sleeve as well to really push it over, because we can already extrapolate that the camera will be higher than the opening price of the 7D 4 years ago, so somewhere north of $1699, most likely $1999 to $2299. Sep 18, 2013 06:57 | #37 THere is already at least one thread to discuss the mythical 7D MKII, so there's no real need to clutter this thread with the same old speculations. Frank Hollis - Retired mass spectroscopist

But i also dont do a lot of PP of my images. I usually just upload them, crop them, might satuirate them a bit and run them through a noise program. If your gonna PP them alot then the 7D would be a better choice i think. I personally use my 7D and my 100-400L to shoot aircraft, birds, anything moving basically, then the 70D with a wide angle lens to capture landscapes, portraits, macro, HDR images. Either way i dont think you can go wrong with either one. THe 7Ds grip is better and better body. My 5D3 has the HDR and in camera jpeg processing, and I never use those features. Your mileage may vary, of course.

The 70D is simply slower, which some bells and whistle, the view finder interaptive options at limited compared to the 7D, the level axis only has 1 axis while the 7D has 2. The 70D has some usefull features, touchscreen movie mode you know it. I buy a camera for stills not movies, and the 7D is far better at that than the 70D, even though the 70D has better noise and 2 extra MP. I was told here in private buy one who owns both the 70D and 7D that the raw files are the same, and it boils down to picture processing for color and extra sharpness and noise reduction. From what I have been told the 70D is not significanlty better in terms of raw for me to chose it over the 7D. This is the choice I have made, I have hold the 7D in my hands, and I like how it feels. You all have your choice and why you chose it, its whats right for you, and the 7D is right for me. You mentioned that this is your first camera... I'd certainly not recommend 7D. Even 70D might be "too much camera", but would have more support for a new user. Actually, for a "first camera" or "first DSLR", I might recommend 700D/T5i, 650D/T4i or 600D/T3i instead. (It will always be possible to upgrade later.) 7D is a harder camera to learn to use really well, but there is a lot more support available in books and online, than there was four years ago when Canon first introduced it.
