flip and touch screen make the 70D a marginal winner (7D holds it's own with the joystick). That said, I'de get the 60D before either, and use the price savings on glass.

Even 70D might be "too much camera", but would have more support for a new user. Actually, for a "first camera" or "first DSLR", I might recommend 700D/T5i, 650D/T4i or 600D/T3i instead. (It will always be possible to upgrade later.) 7D is a harder camera to learn to use really well, but there is a lot more support available in books and online, than there was four years ago when Canon first introduced it. TBH, this will cause a lot of protest, but I shot with Rebels, 30D, 7D and 5D2 and it's actually pretty much the same. The control layout's are pretty similar and when put on manual it's actually pretty much a case of: Set Iso, Diafragma and set shutterspeed, focus and "click" => Yes there's more to it, but this is what it boils down to with every dSLR. With reading and a lot of testing you will learn.

Sep 19, 2013 12:55 | #57 The 7D has the follow significant advantages (IMHO -- I know there may be more). If these are important to you, go with the 7D. Otherwise, I'd choose the 70D
If those features aren't important to you (or if other attributes of the 70D are more important, e.g., price, flip-out LCD screen, low light performance) I'd go with the 70D. That said, I still am very happy with my 7D and will not disturb the small pile of money, that I have been adding to each month, labeled 5DIII and 24-70II. 7D | 300D | G1X | Tokina 11-16mm f/2.8 | EF-S 17-55mm f/2.8 | EF-S 60mm f/2.8 Macro | EF 85mm f/1.8 | 70-200 f/2.8L MkII -- flickr

Sep 19, 2013 13:17 | #60 Kylon wrote in post #16309411 I want the full frame cameras too, only i will buy lenses before that, lenses that will be great on what ever other canon I buy, the EF 70-200mm L IS II and the EF 8-15mm f4 L Funny you should mention that. After posting, I was just considering what lens will replace my current Tokina 11-16mm f/2.8. I was thinking Canon EF 16-35mm f/2.8L II, but the EF 8-15mm f4 L would be a good choice too. 7D | 300D | G1X | Tokina 11-16mm f/2.8 | EF-S 17-55mm f/2.8 | EF-S 60mm f/2.8 Macro | EF 85mm f/1.8 | 70-200 f/2.8L MkII -- flickr
