I bought this http://www.bhphotovideo.com …l_Duo_TTL_Off_Camera.html (external link) on the 18th of last month. Due to me being in the Navy, I was not able to test it up until a few days ago.

When it first came in, my wife used it once to make sure it was all working, along with all the other gear I purchased.

Yesterday I hooked it up in a parking garage, while the sun was still out, and tried using it with my 430exII... It would not work.
Once again, today, I hooked it up inside, did not work.

I immediately took the flash off and hooked it up directly to the camera, it worked.
I hooked it up to another flash cord and it worked as well.

Now, bhphoto is closed til Sunday.

Is there anything I can try doing until then to maybe get it working? ie; settings on the camera or flash.

I tried everything.

I am hoping to get it replaced but I feel like since it has been so long, even pulling the military card, they may not replace it.

Thoughts?

Send BH an email now explaining that you finally were able to test it only to find out it does not work. They will get your email when they are open and contact you. This will at least show you tried to contact them at the very end of the return period. I am sure they will work with you. Their customer service is amazing. Also, for the price you paid for the long cord, you could have spent $35 more and got a set of wireless triggers capable of ETTL and HSS.

I would immediatly send an email to B&H explaining the situation, at the least the "problem" would be on file within the 30 day period.

I have a 'tricky' non-Canon flash cord that sometimes doesn't connect with the flash. The obvious solution is to replace it. It's only $20.

But I'm a cheapskate at heart. My first step was to take a small file and gently file the camera-side contacts of the cord. That helped, but didn't completely solve the problem. Step 2 was to give it a little extra wiggle and shove towards the front of the camera when putting it into the shoe. That seems to have solved my problems. I then make the screw-clamp a little tighter than 'firm' as well.

But let it start acting up and the flash not firing when it should? It's gone. No 2nd chances.

Good that the email is on record. Having said that if you check the customer reviews several people mentioned connection issues and suggested making sure the "shoes" are well seated into the receptacles. In one instance a user stated "It would work fine but only after considerable fiddling with the flash to the hot-shoe connection and was just too much bother" he chose to return it and had already purchased an alternative. Vello though he might have a defective unit but B&H stepped up to the plate made the refund.
