... will Canon and Nikon pick up on it?

I realize the "flash" in a smart phone is really an LED that is flashed and thus makes the cool and warm balancing act easier, but its still an interesting prospect.

the concept seems pretty good...
is it a pre-flash (like ETTL) to determine what's needed from both heads?

ipnoe has no option for bouncing the light... what if Canikon had something like this in a flash, how would bouncing affect?

That's also a good question.

According to the info available, the camera in the iPhone reads the white balance of the ambient and then adjusts the two flash heads so they balance the ambient.

Bouncing and being able to adjust for those color casts would be stellar.
Quick thought for a speedlite would be two flash tubes, one with a warming filter embedded in the tube, then a circuit to balance the output from the two based on WB measured during the pre-flash and ambient metering.

the light source is very close to the lens, would be hard to get something in there w/o getting in the way of the lens...
and then there's the power issue - I don't think that light is powerful enough to bounce off anything more than 1 foot away and still light up a subject

I once read somewhere that a joke has to be good to be noticed... otherwise, its a joke...

It's not my first language, but if you think it wasn't a good one regardless, that's fine with me :)
