Broken tailbone and concussion. Unable to drive or sit for long periods of time, so no travel to shoot photos, visit family or much of anything else.

Nice to meet the thread starter, although it could have been under better circumstances. Hope you're doing much better, and your sit vs lay time is getting longer on the sit side.

So I see that the 5D mark IV comes out and I'm thinking I've wanted a full frame ever since the original came out but I could never justify buying it on my wages at the time. Instead I procrastinated and bought a few lenses and cameras, including the 400mm f5.6, this is all before kids (I'm in love with this lens btw). I had my first kid and bought the 7D with the good excuse as it being a good investment in memories (kid photos and stuff) with the added bonus of a great birding combo. Fast forward to now and I start investigating the Mark IV, I like it - problem is now I need a new middle of the range zoom. That adds a bit (lot) of cost as the middle stuff since mostly I have is EFS. One thing leads to another and now I'm eying of the 500mm f4 II that would naturally have to go with a FF. This endeavor could get expensive real fast. Now I'm thinking should I wait for the 7D Mark III and get the 500mm now or should I stick with my 400 and get a 5D Mark IV because of the better (non-birding) pics. Life is hard. And this hobby is expensive if you let it get away from you. Should I just wait? Thoughts anyone? I mean it can still take some nice images - though I'm not that happy with the 7D noise... ![]() When I'm looking to upgrade, I get the camera in my hands to see how it feels. Then I rattle off some images, become very impressed or very disappointed (rarely). You can decide you don't like it. I passed on the 1Dx. Too much camera for me.
