That bastard Harvey is right now making landfall directly into (onto?... through?) Rockport, TX which is 150 miles SW of me. We've been getting a steady rain most of the day. Now it's getting harder and the wind is picking up. The next several days are going to be quite interesting.

We'll be fine except for the water totals over 3 days as Harvey loiters around here. We may get stuck in our neighborhood, but our home will be fine. Please pray we don't lose power. That's the worst.

Presently light to moderate rain with avg 12 mph winds with gusts to 33 mph.

I'm sitting at a campsite in the woods eating grilled burgers and brats. Blue sky, puffy white clouds. Comfortably cool in shorts and a T.

Back when I lived in Illinois, we were a bit rural and lost power a few times a year. I invested in a 6500 watt generator. Best investment ever. It's not big enough to run the whole house but enough to light a few lamps, plug in the fridge and freezer to cool them off, then switch it over to the furnace blower and get some heat in the house. Here in TX I have only had to use it once as we lost power for a bit more than 24 hours. Still, saved everything in the fridge and freezer.

I'm sitting on a comfy sofa in an air conditioned house with a stocked fridge and pantry. We've got a stove, an oven, a microwave, 2 baths, and a queen size bed. Also cool in shorts, a T, and sandals.
