What's happened to Halloween? We had only one lone trick and treat-er yesterday. Last year was just a couple of groups but each group had maybe 8 to 12 kids in it. Yesterday, one lone girl and that was it. So sad.

Are you on the sexual predator list, or surrounded by sexual predators?

Halloween is getting to be disappointing. Over the last several years there's been constant griping about the age of kids going trick or treating, people will call into radio shows and demand that no kids over the age of 8 go out. I went out every year up to my first year of college. I'd go out with a few friends and all the younger siblings. The kids would get candy, we would get candy, and no one had any issue with our age. People would give us handfuls of candy. Now it seems that everyone takes their kids to the mall, or just to friends and family. Gone are the days when kids would roam the streets till 9 or 10 pm. It's too unsafe out there, the kiddies need to be sheltered.

Our 17 year old daughter went out. We all dressed up and had our 2 and 9 year old as well. No one seemed to mind by us. I remember those years, but I truly think I stopped trick or treating by 14. By 16 with a license for sure I was out the door on to better things. Though my daughter like many new age millennials has no interest what so ever in driving. I've never been able to get her behind the wheel of the car just to give her a couple basic instructions. Over the summer I got her on a regular Craftsman lawn tractor and had to pry her foot off of the brake pedal to get her to move whilst on the thing. She started balling.

So at this point, if she still wants to be a kid and trick-or-treat, I'm good with it. Though it did seem a bit quieter this year, but also 20°f cooler. That may have made the difference.

As kids we went out once for UNICEF from after school until dark and then a second time for candy. Around Jr. High (Middle school) It was more hanging with friends and scaring the smaller kids. By High School, it was parties and no more trick and treating. In college, it was some serious parties sometimes lasting a few days. :)

Though I must say, my wife and I went to Target this evening and it really looked like they were hung on Halloween stuff. They had full pallets of pumpkins marked at only 50% off, I figure they'll wind up pitching most of those in another week or so. They had 3 isles of Halloween stuff, 30-50% off. Seems like a lot of inventory left for the day after Halloween.
