May we meet up with all who have past before us, family, friends, and pets.

It's my life and I'll get pissed if I want to.

My condolences Jay. It's amazing how those critters become part of the family and always sad when they go.

Not sure why, but call me JJ.

We had a Yorkie, Gracie, who looked for the other one, Phoebe, until we buried her the next day. Gracie smelled her burial spot and never looked for her again.

A website was checking out said the same thing. Let the other pet have some time with the body, but Gracie was put to sleep at ISU pet hospital.

They DO!!! I never thought I could be so affected by a pet. It's sad, but she wasn't doing well and had a pretty bad morning. They said it was time. I sort of knew that going in.

When one of our dogs died suddenly, the neighbours dog refused to eat for days. She just stared out the door and moped. We lost a family member, she lost her best friend and couldn't understand what had happened.

Our last kitty died at 20, we had her for 13 years. I still miss her.

The vet told me if Charlie still wouldn't eat after 3 days, I would need to bring him in, as not eating can cause some serious liver problems that can be fatal. He ate about half an hour ago, so I think that part will be OK, but he is pretty bummed. The first and last time I had to put one down was 15 years ago. I remember it being tough, but not like this. I'm getting old and emotional!

Perfectly understandable and normal under the circumstances. I've been there myself too many times. Wife has a curio cabinet with a shelf dedicated to the lost ones. I have to admit, their urns are beautiful.

Gracie left us today. She was an old gal and deaf, but she owned the place and let us know it. Charlie is sort of wandering around looking for her. This is one of my favorite images of her. It's going to be sort of quiet around here now without her grumbly meowing.

Sorry Jay

I am really sorry to hear that Jay.... We lost Squeaker several months ago at age 16. She was my close friend always with me.

Thanks everyone, and Charles, so sorry for your kitty loss too. I adopt senior cats, 10+ years old since everyone wants kittens. That leaves a large population of senior cats in shelters who need homes, too. Our shelter is a no-kill shelter now which is great. I donate regularly so they can keep it that way.

Thank you also Jay. That is wonderful you are able to adopt senior cats. My wife has always had a very hard time whenever we have lost any pet in the past. Squeaker will probably be our last as it is just way to hard on my dear wife.

We also adopted several kitties from a no-kill shelter.
