You never know when you will need a ferry. Rivers and such.

I didn't know about ferry service in Marine City. Very cool. Last trip to the UP was Iron Mountain, years ago.

Yup, it's a great service. 15 minute turnaround. It's pricier than the bridge, but it's a nice ride. The fact that pedestrians and cyclists are allowed is a bonus. It's popular with the beer loving folks. $2 round trip, they have hand trucks available to use, and the duty free shop on the US side is well stocked with cases of beer.

I'm going to have to keep it in mind to ride over and spend some time over in Michigan. When the weather is nicer, the river is closed for the winter now.

Most of my trips across the UP have been simply to cross it on the I75. Heading to and from Sault Ste Marie. Back in 1997 we took a family road trip (minus my brother) to Alberta. We went up I75 and across the UP, spent the night in Ironwood.

Someday I might have a reason to head that direction again. But I probably will want to visit other states instead, add to my list of visited places. So far I have only been to 14 states. And my time in New York consisted of walking in, around for an hour or two, and then back out.

i'm thinking that this dog should be enlarged by 10 and then put on GOT, it's cute and freaky at the same time with those blue eyes.

I was thinking the same thing. The undead chases.

Not sure why, but call me JJ.

I've got a chaser as well. Corgis/Lab and the Corgis is strong in this one.

My trips to the UP were family vacations when I was young. I didn't know until I went to Mackinaw in '15 that it was only 4 hours from home. If I had known that I would have gone up more when I still lived there. I've been in many states and lived in 4 so far, but my excursions into Canada were Windsor (drinking age 19), Sarnia and Niagara Falls(for a family vacation, not the wedding thing). We used to sit on Lakeshore Drive in the ambulance and look over at Canada wondering how something so close had so little crime and no gun problems. Ah...good times!

It does amaze me sometimes at the differences between Canada and the US when so little actually separates us.
My sister lives in Fort Gratiot, so we go over a fair bit, but it never feels like home.

Heading out shortly to meet my new boss and go look at some properties. :)

My friend sold his property maintenance company last spring to another local company. They've hired him to snowplow for the winter for them. Yesterday, when I was moving my toolbox back to his place, he talked to the owner and said that I was available to work. They need another plow operator, and I have experience. Bonus is, I know how to drive a tractor and he needs someone to drive a tractor. And fix things when they break. Win win.
And there's no problem with me job hunting at the same time. And maybe even still working part time if I land a job.
