Pretty shallow root system on those trees.

Most tree roots don't go deep and I think that the trees in dry places go even less deep. Here in TX we get the same thing happening when the wind gets strong. It tips them right over.

Of course, we always took the trees down before they became a problem.

Then again, sometimes the storm took them anyway.

I hate to do this, you know, talk about photography, but has anyone seen the new Nikon P1000 (external link)? It's a P900 on steroids. The zoom on it is incredible. As it now does raw, I have a feeling one of these is headed to the JJ residence pretty soon. 3000mm telephoto is just insane.

Aw, come on, someone worked really hard getting that chirping in there.

Sure did! Catching a vocal bird, using that expensive equipment to shrink it down, then stuffing in a tiny little box to fit in the camera. It's really quite the bargain!

It's my life and I'll get pissed if I want to.

You really want to see those pictures? I prefer happy things myself, like puppies, or melons, or like a nesting pair of blue footed boobies.
