Life has just been insane here lately.
First off, was given my 1 weeks notice at work on the 2nd, the 8th was my last day of work. I hadn't wanted to stay there much longer, but I didn't see this coming. I believe my life will be much better without that business in it.
Last spring I bought an ATV trailer to use for moving riding mowers and such, with the hope to 'renovate' it so I could use it for moving my toolbox. These circumstances forced the renovation timeline. So I spent some very cold hours outside after work. The whole project would have been much easier if my fingers weren't frozen the entire time. But, I got it done and it worked great.
Last Sunday night my trucks LF wheel bearing exploded when I was in town. I knew it was going bad and had planned to replace it Monday after work. But it didn't give me that opportunity. I managed to get it to Canadian Tire. A friend picked me up and loaned me his truck for the next day.
Monday evening my SIL picked me up from my friends place and drove me to Canadian Tire so I could pick up my truck. While I was still in town we (the fire department) got called to a house fire. House was saved. I stay and help put the trucks back in service, which takes about two hours after a fire. It was a late night.
Tuesday evening we had our monthly members meeting. Typically we review the past month, but we had missed February's meeting due to a call, so we had two months to review. 41 calls, not including the last two house fires. Plus two guest speakers. Tim went over the Critical Incident Stress Management program - which was necessary after the one house fire. Marcel went through training on Naloxone kits, we now carry them on the trucks.
The other house was on the Wednesday of the week before. Fully involved fire, three departments responding. We had a Mayday right off when the first firefighter through the front door was caught in a collapse and ended up in the basement. Rescue was quick and he's ok, just banged up a fair bit. It's something that puts the department on edge. Tim and his team are available for decompressing and processing.
On the 1st my BIL got the call to come visit his dad for the last time. He'd been in hospice care and was turning for the worse. They packed up the kids, picked up his brother, and drove straight through to Beaumont, Texas. They got there in time and were able to spend time with him.
I am snake-sitting my nieces two ball pythons while they are gone.
Maple syrup season has started.
