I love a wood fire. Fireplaces are nice, but I would love to have a woodstove. Heat from all sides and a cooking surface. But I wouldn't want it as the only, or main, source of heat.

I have some friends who have a wood burning stove that seems to do pretty good for them. It keeps the kitchen, dining room and den all nice and toasty warm. Of course, this is in Central California (near Fresno), so it doesn't get all that cold, anyway...

Warm people are typically happier than cold people.

So, why am I always happier when it's colder outside? Winter is my favorite season. I hate summer!

Well, in general. I much prefer winter too. But I am much happier with the furnace running and keeping the house warm than I would be if it wasn't. I don't particularly want to sleep in my snow pants.

Good stuff.

We haven't bottomed out yet either. And tomorrow's high is supposed to reach -16C. Very good weather for selling batteries!

I keep the heater on indoors, too. But, I don't set it too high. I keep it around 65 to 68F, then snuggle under the blankets at night with a warm cat or three...

We keep the house warmer, set at 74F. The basement gets really cold otherwise. And Dad has circulation problems, if he gets cold it takes him a very long time to warm up again.

Here's a bit of my drive home tonight. About 2 kms worth of side road that had been fairly recently ploughed. This road will fill in completely within hours. (no editing done, the tunes are what was playing)

I much prefer warm weather. Summer is my favorite season. Lots of swimming, biking, hiking, basically outdoors all day long. Wintertime is for hibernating.

Not sure why, but call me JJ.
I used to hate math but then I realised decimals have a point.

I do a lot more stuff in the summer and I love being outdoors, but it gets so humid here that I have to hibernate in the A/C.
