Almost all packed. Have the toiletries to pack in the morning, laptop will be packed as soon as I'm done with it here, and then move it all to the truck. Church in the morning, pick up Chris, and head for the border! Weather forecast is for sun and warm temps, which is awesome.

And the folks at work are just going to have to do all the work themselves. The boss isn't going to have much fun doing payroll this time around as I barely have any of this week's time tickets done, and will be doing none of next week's.

I'm going to head up into the Eastern Sierra Nevada Mountains later this week looking for some fall color. In the meantime, here's a shot I got a few years ago in South Lake Tahoe. (Trying out the share feature from my new Zenfolio account...)

Have fun, Mel. I hope the finger's feeling a bit better.

In my job, I don't have work stacking up for when I come back from vacation. Unfortunately, my wife does, which kind of puts a damper on it.

No random beat downs or cavity searches?

Nope. We can't save those things up and give 'em at a later date; you have to jump on them when the opportunity presents itself.

And though we can do strip searches, only medical staff can do a cavity search. Gone are the good ol' days.

And just to keep this discussion photography related, so as not to get yelled at... I've never seen a roll of film taken during a cavity search. Or a 70-200 f/4L.

You would have a lot of company. It's a pretty popular route!

I don't think there's snow there, yet. Maybe in the upper elevations in the mountains around the lake, but not at the city elevations. They'll see snow soon, though. Maybe in another two or three weeks.

We have some fantastic hills around where I live, but no real snow-capped mountains. It is something I've always loved seeing, the little white tips even in the dead of summer.

The mountains around Lake Tahoe don't stay snow-capped year-round, but there usually is some snow up there all year long, mostly on the north facing slopes where there isn't any direct sunlight. But, the elevations just aren't high enough for there to be snow covering the mountain tops visible from lake level all year long.

If you go a few hundred miles south where the Sierra Nevada Mountains reach 14,000' and more, then you'll probably see snow year-round. I know Mount Whitney has even had new snowfall recorded in every month of the year. It doesn't happen every year, but it isn't uncommon. The higher elevations of the Sierras even have a few glaciers.

Hey, but it's spring here!!!

I met up with a few friends from a local forum yesterday at Brisbane's Roma St Parklands for a Macro meet.

The poor green frogs wondered what had happened. All these photographers flashing bright lights in front of them.

Thanks JJ.

Been without broadband for 2.5 days after an early morning storm on Saturday morning took out some infrastructure (ISP's - not mine). Nice to be back online again. Normally I like early morning storms, but this one woke me at 4:30am - after I went to bed at 1:30.
