I'm not sure we're making him feel better, but we can't be faulted for not trying.

It's all good; I'm home from work. Had dinner, opened presents, had coconut cream pie, got calls from my son and a sister. The Steelers kicked butt.

Next year might be tough... The big 6-0. That just sounds ancient to me. Mentally, I still feel like I'm in my 40's, tops. Maybe 30's.

The big 6-0 is a minor speed bump compared to the day you get your Medicare card. :-)

Doesn't everybody in the US get Medicare? Or am I wrong in assuming this is some form of Health Care?

I am not too worried about which birthday is coming up, I still have a long ways to go to grow up yet. :)

Yes its Health Care, but you don't get it until you're 65.

Those have to be the butt ugliest uniforms in the history of team uniforms. It's a cross between a old-timey prisoner and a bumble bee.

Also, if you are having a throw-back game, shouldn't everyone participate?

They are always somewhere between the cabin air intake and the dash vents. :D

The majority of vehicles have them in behind the glove box. A lot also have them under the under hood cowling. Some are in the plenum below the dash, or in the centre console.

They will be on the passenger side.

After a little internet research, it appears as though my truck doesn't have one...

I am always confused by this. Is there some form of insurance everyone has? I do know I have heard of folks going broke over medical costs. What would those with no money to pay do for medical care, I can't imagine they are left to suffer.

I know back 25 years ago when I had leukaemia, without having Health Care there is no way I could have covered the costs. My costs to Health Care were definitely a few hundred thou, even back then.

No. Medicare is a federal (national) program for 65+ only. States have their own programs for the indigent. In California, it's Medi-Cal. I don't even know that every state has something like it. What's typical in the U.S., for historical reasons, is insurance through one's employer or a parent's or spouse's employer. A lot of people are left out.

The national insurance for everyone, even those without insurance is called the emergency room. Just head on down to the emergency room if you have an ailment and they will treat you and figure out who is going to pay later. If you don't want to wait very long, speak a foreign language (not Spanish though as many in the hospital speak Spanish) and grab your chest. It will get you to the front of the line.

Makes a person very glad to be living in Canada. Yes, the wait times are atrocious, but I don't have to pay out every time I get clumsy.

Last trip to the ER was to get a tiny little piece of metal dug out of my scalp. As a precaution I got a couple of head x-rays done to make sure there was no metal left. I can't imagine how much that would have cost me.

Yes, this is certainly one of the worst issues we deal with with Health Care. Some of these times are just absurd. However, at least it it is critical care needed, you are rushed through right away.
